NaPodPoMo #7 - Looking for a new cell phone
It's Day 7 of NaPodPoMo and I'm still finding stuff to talk about. W00t!
Listen in to my Utterz
Today I'm curious about cell phones. The battery in my Cricket phone is dying and let's me only make about 10 mins of a call before it has to rest. I can surely get a new battery, but I figure, maybe now is the time to get a new phone.
I'd like to get a smartphone like a Treo or the new Palm Centro. However, I am also a cheap bastard who is spoiled by the flat, low Cricket rate and unlimited everything. The idea of a $100+/mo bill frightens me so.
So, the question is on the table: what cell phone do YOU use? Yes you, my fellow Uttererz! Do you have one that lets you call in, leave text and video/pics? What kind of phone and service is it, and how oppressive are the bills?
NaPodPoMo #6 - I'm Utterly Impressed
Download and listen to this Utterz
Spent some time yesterday with Sim here at Utterz, trying to figure why my blog seems to be blocking access to the Utterz autopost feature. It is definitely on my server's side, but I haven't nailed it down yet. The good news is I can cobble from the RSS feeds that are generated here. I will try to import the feed itself into my blog. If I want more control, I may just copy the link from the RSS feed. In any case, I do have a way to get the MP3 files itself into my feed. Huzzah!
Also, I have some cool news that I just have to share with everyone. Michelle and I are going to do a new podcast. Is This Thing On is going to stay around as the eclectic couple cast that it is. However, we've been toying around with doing a specific genre-related cast and we are finally committing to it.
We are going to create the Out Of The Coffin Podcast -- that's right, a vampire-themed podcast! You will soon be able to find it at http://OutOfTheCoffin.com/. It may not kick off right away -- by Jan 1st 2008 at the latest -- but it's a go folks!
Finally, I forgot to say it in the audio, but I don't want to forget two things. First, Happy Birthday Mom! Second, everyone remember to VOTE!
NaPodPoMo #5 - From the Home Office in Scottsdale, AZ
Download/listen to this episode.
In this episode, I am calling in to my voicemail line and I'll paste the audio into Utterz later. This is an attempt to have an audio file to link into my feed rather than just the Utterz Flash player and link.
I am working from home today because my morning was interrupted by a visit to my doctor.
On my drive to and from the doctor's, I finished listening to NOCTURNAL #1 and PLAYING FOR KEEPS #1. Both were enjoyed immensely and I look forward to their respective second installments.
NOTE: The voicemail line cut me off at 5 minutes (a limit I was not aware of) and so I started to carry on to something at 4:30, but rather than chop that thought, I trimmed that whole bit off. You'll all just have to listen in tomorrow for that next thought.
How will you stand it? ;-)
NaPodPoMo #4 - Calendar question for all of you
Folks, I am hoping someone in the sound of my voice can help me with a project. I need a recommendation of a piece of software for creating calendars with a great deal of flexibility. If it can create nice looking calendars to print, this is the primary goal. If it can also export to iCal/ICS or vCal/VCS files for people to subscribe to/import online, I will consider it a huge find.
If you know of anything, reply to my Utter or visit my website http://DanShaurette.com/. Thanks!
NaPodPoMo #3 - This one time at PodCampAZ...
Listen to my Pre-PodCampAZ Utterz and my
Post-PodCampAZ Utterz.
Somehow the stars aligned and I had the chance to get out to PodCampAZ today!
MAD PROPS to Brent and Michelle Spore who organized the whole thing!
Folks I met up with: Dani Cutler, Dan & CJ, Evo Terra (and Lovely Wife Sheila), Jack Mangan, Michael R. Mennenga, Debbie, Eliza & Brian from WinginIt3D, Clintus McGintus, Jason Tucker, and Jody Gnant (singer/lifecaster).
I had an absolute blast and am so happy I could go. I hung out, learned a few things, but most of all I realized I am not just some shmuck in Phoenix with a microphone. I have a cell phone, too. :P
P.S. Thanks to CJ from the Love Long and Prosper Podcast, there's at least one photo of me at PodCampAZ... cause I'm such a n00b that I didn't take my laptop, let alone a camera. ;-)
NaPodPoMo #2 - Lunch at the Park
Day two and I'm Uttering from Northsight Park in north Scottsdale. I started listening to NOCTURNAL by Scott Sigler this morning and am looking forward to the rest of that and PLAYING FOR KEEPS by Mur Lafferty after work.
NaPodPoMo #1 - 30 Days of What?!
My first post for NaPodPoMo Day 1, using Utterz as a call-in tool for podcasting daily from my cell phone.
I didn't get to talk on the podcast last night about two amazing albums I recently bought, both of which are perfect for this time of year!
* Winter World by Reliquary
- A very lovely, dark and moving album with powerful orchestration and glorious vocals. Highly recommended!
* Vanish by À Rebours
- Then there's this chap -- I love solo artists who do it all -- who brings a fun flair to his deep gothic tunes. My favorite has to be "The Wicked One", though the whole album has an energy that carries from start to finish. Also highly recommended!
