LILITH'S LOVE Podiobook is complete!
So at long last, the podcast audio adaptation of LILITH'S LOVE is complete! Is it perfect? No, of course not. I may go back and remaster some parts of it. I am always of the mind that a novel, and now any production based on one, is never finished.
I would like to thank Evo Terra for encouraging me to produce a podcast version, giving it a home on Podiobooks.com, as well as providing one of the many voices in the cast.
So what's next, besides an eventual remastered edition? Well, naturally there's the sequels. Yes, two. LILITH'S LIGHT and LILITH'S PEACE. Neither is complete. I dare say these projects alone will keep me busy for a while to come.
But that's not enough; I am also writing prequels. Prequels featuring characters that appear in the sequels but NOT in LILITH'S LOVE. Yes. I'm insane. Certifiable. And you wouldn't have me any other way.
In the meantime, if you enjoyed the podcast version and feel like donating, please do visit Podiobooks.com and leave the donation there. You'll be supporting them AND my part of the donation will go directly to the American Cancer Society.
Finally, this means Michelle and I have some free time now so we will be back to more regular episodes there. Huzzah!
In fact, we're going to go see Vampire Suck this weekend and we will return with a review of the flick then!
No podcast for July
Hey everyone, I hope all is well with you all. I just wanted to let you know that there's not going to be a July episode for Out Of The Coffin. Besides trying to wrap up LILITH'S LOVE, Michelle's work and my work are draining our free time like Dracula on a bender.
So, we hope to catch up with you all in early August. The only good news here is that this means we'll have a LOT to chat about!
Hasta,
Dan

Mea culpa
Folks, we do apologize for the delay in not only episodes here but over at Liliths-Love.com. Computer problems, summer vacations, and random octopus incursions are keeping us busy. We are still planning at least a June episode with another awesome interview. Hang with us. We're getting everything in order, we promise!

* Julie Hoverson from 19Nocturne Blvd recently posted on her blog an excellent discussion about the evolving role of vampires. You should check it out.
* True Blood Season 3 starts June 13. Waiting Sucks! Have you been watching the minisodes?
* June also brings something interesting to the CW. Beginning Thursday June 3, the CW will air reruns of the first season of The Vampire Diaries for those who need to catch up (*ahem* Michelle *cough*) followed by reruns of Moonlight starring Alex O'Loughlin.
- P.S., Alex O'Loughlin has been tapped by CBS for their remake of Hawaii Five-O. That I might watch. But seriously, CBS, you KNOW the fans want MOONLIGHT back. Just admit it and make it happen instead of trying to find new roles to shove him into.
* Oh yeah, and in case the squealing tween girls didn't alert you, June 30th is when Eclipse, the third movie in the Twilight Saga, hits theatres.
// BOOKS
* I have finished reading CHANGELESS by Gail Carriger. Folks, if you have not read this or its prequel SOULLESS, you are depriving yourself of some of the best writing out there. September cannot get here soon enough as that is when the third book, BLAMELESS, will be released. Gail's books are set in a Victorian England full of vampires, werewolves, and ghosts. The main character, Alexia, is a preternatural who has the ability to negate the supernatural. This gets her into all sorts of hilarious and suspenseful situations. I'll have a full review of CHANGELESS soon, but for now, seriously, go pick up these books!

It's Like A Death In The Family - RIP Peter Steele
The rumors have been confirmed. On Wednesday, April 14th, Peter Steele passed away from heart failure at age 48. Peter was the lead singer and bassist for Type O Negative, a heavy metal band -- one of very few I have ever listened to.
My favorite album was "Bloody Kisses", which was released in 1993, but I didn't discover it until a couple years later. The 90's were my dark decade and where I first became enamored with vampires and their lore. The album, and especially the title track, "Bloody Kisses", exemplified dark, goth, vampiric emotions. It is a great album to have in the background when writing.
"Black No. 1" also has a very special place in my heart, as it is the song that played the first time Michelle and I ever danced together.
Here's to you, Peter.

Corey Haim found dead at 38
Not much to say except the real tragedy is that Corey was starting to get more movie roles recently. He could have had an interesting comeback. Coroner still hasn't determined cause of death yet.

// REMEMBERING NATALIE / THE BOOM EFFECT
* Before the episode gets started, I want to take a brief moment of your time. On January 5, 2010, Natalie Morris, the wife of Tee Morris, passed away. Tee Morris is well known in the realm of podcasting, being the very first podiobook author. He has been an inspiration to me and many of my fellow podcasters. Tee now has the unenviable job of raising his daughter, lovingly nicknamed "Sonic Boom", on his own. Phillippa Ballantine recently set up a Chip-In account online to raise money for a college trust fund for "Sonic Boom", as well as holding an auction soon, dubbed The Boom Effect, to further contribute to the fund. If you haven't already heard about these efforts I want to point you to the websites. They are RememberNatalie.org and TheBoomEffect.org.

* I finished reading SOULLESS by Gail Carriger.
- What a delightful book! 10 out of 10! It is funny, action-packed, romantic, sexy, and full of Victorian vampires, werewolves, and ghosts! Oh my! I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel! A full review, and hopefully an interview with the author, will follow soon.
// THEATRE
* This winter Great Lakes Theater Festival in Cleveland, Ohio will be presenting a new one-act play, THE DARK SIDE OF TWILIGHT by David Hansen, as its free, outreach touring play.
- It will play in 21 venues across three counties in northern Ohio as part of its community outreach "Surround" programming. THE DARK SIDE OF TWILIGHT is inspired by four pivotal examples of Gothic vampire literature - Polidori's THE VAMPYRE, Stoker's DRACULA, Rice's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, and Meyer's TWILIGHT. The performances, free and open to the public, begin in mid-February 2010 and run for about a month.
- David let me know about his play and offered to send a draft of the play my way to read. It is an absolutely wonderful homage to vampire literature. Full of suspense, romance, drama and some laughs, sprinkled with lots of nods to the genre that made me smile. If you are in Ohio, you should definitely check this out.

Lilith's Love Promo #1
Hey everyone, I'm dropping by to deliver the very first promo for the LILITH'S LOVE podiobook. (Download MP3)
It features Donovan in the present giving folks a bit of a tease about what happened back in 1993. You could call it a spoiler, but I hope you are anxious to see how it all unfolds.
The promo is only 60 seconds long. If you have a podcast and would like to play a shorter promo, let me know, and I can whip something up sooner.
Pass it around, far and wide, and maybe share the Out Of The Coffin promos too, if you are feeling very generous.
Thanks, and I'll be back soon!

- An excellent take on the modern trend to featuring romantic and heroic vampires versus the hideous monsters of old.
* Philippa Ballantine's Erotica ala Carte: Loves to be Loved
- She likens her October story to "Succubi In The City", and that would have been more than plenty. But there's vamps in the tale as well. Great stuff as always from Pip!
-- I'd like to add that I love reading short stories which tell a full tale but that beg to have the story continued. This is one of those tales, as are many of Pip's EalC stories.

* CASTLE: Vampire Weekend
- A man wearing fangs is found dead in a graveyard with a stake through his heart. It is up to Castle and Beckett to solve the mystery.
- Plus, bonus for Firefly fans, the whole "space cowboy" Halloween costume thing is brilliant. "Didn't you wear that like five years ago? Don't you think it's time to move on?"
